Catholic Record Society

RESEARCH POLICY: The Catholic Record Society maintains a wide variety of materials and records pertaining to the history of the Diocese of Columbus located in the twenty-three county area of central and south-central Ohio. These records are not open to the general public and may only be handled by authorized personnel. A small part-time staff, limited facilities, and the confidential nature of some of the records combine to make this restriction necessary.

Individuals seeking genealogical information or information on the history of the Diocese of Columbus - parishes, institutions, religious orders, clergy, etc. - should submit requests:

1.  By submitting a Record Request Form

2.  Mail to: Catholic Record Society
197 E. Gay Street
Columbus, Ohio 43215

There is no fee for a request, however, donations to help cover our expenses are encouraged. Please make a check or money order payable to: The Catholic Record Society.

Allow six to eight weeks for a reply. Due to the volume of requests and limited staff time, extensive research for genealogists can not be undertaken. No more than one hour of staff time can be spent per letter. If a record is found a copy will be sent to the researcher.
