Catholic Campaign for Human Development

Catholic Campaign for Human Development Local Grant Applications sought by a deadline of April 15

Grants must support:  the Church’s Gospel mission; our Catholic identity, especially traditional Catholic principles of respect for human life and dignity, priority for the poor, participation, subsidiarity, solidarity, and strengthening family, and building community; the pursuit of justice by supporting self-help efforts to address root causes of poverty, education for justice; and be faithful stewards of the human, financial, institutional, and moral assets of CCHD.

The diocesan Office for Social Concerns is seeking proposals that work for institutional or systemic change to break the cycle of poverty in our diocese and to defend human dignity. For grant applications or additional information, email [email protected] or contact Erin Cordle, CCHD director, at 614-241-2540.

Jobs, Housing, Education, Economic Development

The essentials of successful communities. Yet many struggling communities throughout our country lack these essentials. Poverty and social injustices continue to rob men, women, and children of their God-given dignity. CCHD-funded projects help poor and low-income individuals work together to rebuild their communities across our diocese. The CCHD philosophy emphasizes empowerment of and participation by the poor. By helping the poor to participate in the decisions and actions that affect their lives, CCHD empowers them to move beyond poverty. CCHD funds projects in our diocese that help people help themselves out of poverty.

Values at the Heart of CCHD

  • Option for the poor;
  • Participation / self-help;
  • Institutional change;
  • Empowerment / leadership development;
  • Solidarity / building bridges;
  • Movement toward self-sufficiency.
